WILL I TWITTER...?

Hi James,

Well, I've definitely shifted from the Twitter is irrelevant frippery and cat-related comments mode I was probably in a while back.... ;-)

Actually, I have an ever-lengthening list of Web 2.0 skills I'm intending to get up to speed with - Twitter is just one of them.

It was fascinating chatting to Phil Bradley recently about how he can see the waves of interest in a new topic transfer between the Twitter domain and his blog. If I remember correctly he was saying that Twitter is a great alerting service...

Someone else was promising recently to try to get the top CILIP folks twittering - lordllama (or something like that), I think.

I wonder if he/she had any succes...?

Cheers,

Matthew

Thank you for your comment Matthew, and for the plug on your blog.
I must say that the quality of the speakers was excellent at the seminar.
Are you tempted onto Twitter? It is great fun and a wonderful source of information, news and gossip. Once you've set up your Twitter account download a client like Twhirl for your PC (twitterific for Mac), pick some people to follow and the tweets just float up on your screen during the day. You mentioned Euan Semple in your blogpost, he is at http://twitter.com/euan, and obviously I'd be flattered if you followed me! James

Hi James,

Strangely enough I only realised that this interesting event had taken place - only a few yards down the corridor from my office - when I spotted that you'd twittered about it!

I mentioned your tweet in a recent post on CILIP's 'Library and Information Update' blog: http://communities.cilip.org.uk/blogs/update/archive/2008/11/14/pr-2-0-promoting-your-info-service-my-presentation-to-clsig.aspx

Ironically, the post was about a presentation I gave last week on how CILIP groups etc might improve their PR and media relations...!

Cheers,

PS I was actually out the office when this Google Generation event was on, at CILIP's RFID conference - so maybe I would have spotted it!
